theatregrads:

This is the conference for my Uncanny Fashion course at York. My section is from 12:30-1:30. Paper title: “The Gaze Back With a Wink: Burlesque, the Uncanny, and Performativity.” Audience welcome and encouraged; otherwise it’s just us talking to ourselves.

Come if you can! There are a lot of neat papers in this course, dealing with cyborgs and architecture and the uncanny.

So this is my night. Burlesque onstage with live bands. The HiLo GoGos onstage with Hi Heels Lo Fi at Lee’s Palace. Soon I’ll be taking off my clothes as Mina Harker. I’m three beers in, opening my fourth. Fuck I love this.

Release the Bats!

Here’s a preview of one of the acts I’ll be performing at Bella’s Burlesque Birthday Bash this Thursday March 28 at Lee’s Palace. It’s going to be a fantastically fun show, with Pavlov’s Dogs Handbell Ensemble, The Cocksure Lads, and Hi Heels Lo Fi. We rehearsed with Hi Heels Lo Fi on Sunday, and my goodness that band knows how to party. Two words: portable bar. Also they kick some ass. These glitterbat pasties are for one of their songs to which I will be dancing. It’s a rework of my very first burlesque act, and totally different in tone, but way funnier. And more boobs than my first shy appearance.

If you know me and can find me this week before the show, I have some tickets on me for purchase,$15 in advance ($20 at the door). Otherwise, see this link here! I think there’s still a few left at the Silver Snail, too.

Come out to my show! It’s going to be a crazy dance party with rock bands, boobs and booze! (Also we have Lucky Fremont, so some boylesque for those inclined.) This Thursday!

Why yes, I am sewing marabou onto a leopard print minidress at 2am. I can’t shut off my brain like a normal person and sleep, despite the fact I was up at 7am.

Producery producing

Performers: confirmed

Music: in playlist in order

Set List: done

Notes for tech, stage kittens, comedian: printed

Food: about to be picked up

My act: not happening anymore

It’s sort of sad, but I just can’t juggle running the show by myself and being in it. I have mad respect for performers who can. My act is really cute, but I’m missing some things as the ribbon is NOT working, and I am not comfortable changing things so last minute. Best to do the act at Futurecon instead.

In case I haven’t pushed it enough: The Hideout, 484 Queen St. West, tonight, doors at 8:30, tickets $20. Everyone else is quality.

Boy Joystick is performing at Zombiesquad’s Mayan Apocalpyse Party tonight at The Hideout, 484 Queen St. W. in Toronto. Doors at 8:30PM, tickets $20.

  • 8-Bit Pinup
Come out to the party that will end the world!

I’m producing this! Come see it! I’m no longer performing in it due to ALL THE THINGS to be done, but I’m stage managing too.

Nerd Girl Burlesque presents BRITISH INVASION

nerdgirlburlesque:

Hold onto your knickers, gents and lasses, because the ladies of Nerd Girl Burlesque are back for a cheeky romp across the pond.

Join us on Friday, the 24th of November at the Black Swan Tavern as we pay tribute to some of our favourite imports from the Queen’s isles.  Just try and deduce the mystery of how we make such complex tassel-twirling seem so elementary; marvel at how our costumes seem to be bigger on the inside; and rest assured that our feathered props are simply pining for the fjörds.

Featuring brand-new acts from the Nerd Girls themselves:

  • Bella Fox
  • Delicia Pastiche
  • Kenickie Street
  • Loretta Jean
  • Ruby Pixel

With special guests

  • Brian Bedside Manor
  • Dr. Tease
  • Mademoiselle Belle Jumelles
  • Genie Emerald

Hosted by Mike Drach

Tickets are $15 at the door, and there are a limited number of $20 advance VIP passes which include preferential seating, and some NGB goodies!

There will be your choice of cake or death available while quantities last.  Allons-y!

Dis mah troupe! The show is going to be great, you guys. We’ve been rehearsing a lot (to the detriment of my ankle, but that was my own fault), and we have some amazing guest performers. If you want to get an advanced pass, it’s only $5 more, and includes guaranteed close seating and a goodie bag that’ll have some cool stuff in it.

Unlike our last show, this show includes boylesque and a drag king! It’s a night of burlesque fun!

EDITED to include the new stage name of one of our guests.

Super Smash Burlesque!
This show is going to be amazing and occasionally adorable. Tickets are sold out at two locations; the only place left to get them is at Eyesore Cinema at 801 Queen St. W. There may not be tickets at the door.
Come watch me shake my tail onstage. No really, I will have a tail and I will shake it.

Suggestions for Nintendo characters needed

I have just been informed that my pitch to be Samus in the next burlesque show is one of six. I need other suggestions. The bigger names are likely taken. I need to be unique enough to get in. Timeline: NES to Game Cube.
